Château Pontet Canet is highly regarded for producing wines that often exceed their classification, sometimes even rivalling the First Growths. This 2000 vintage is undoubtedly the most impressive year for Bordeaux, rare and highly sought after. Wines from the estate are considered “super seconds” and has gained recognition for its commitment to biodynamic and organic farming practices. Their wine showcases the typical traits of the finest Pauillac wines: concentration, with intricate aromas of cedar and black fruit. With time, we have noticed that the wines have gained in freshness and balance, revealing additional notes of red fruit and morello cherry. The mouth is sublime, in a class of its own, displaying a silky, almost Burgundian expression.

This Pauillac is definitely one of the Bordeaux wines to have made the most progress in recent years, so much that it now enjoys a status all of its own in the appellation! Undoubtedly a great wine, and one of our absolute favourites in the Bordeaux region.
