Chateau Grand-Puy Lacoste’s vineyard is planted on gravelly soil and has the particularity of not having any Cabernet Franc. The resulting wines have a great capacity to age. Richly-coloured, tannic, vigorous and full-bodied, they are considered to be a perfect example of classic Pauillac. Classified fifth growth in 1855, François-Xavier Borie managed to raise Grand-Puy Lacoste among the best of the appellation.
